Lidl security guard assaults a customer

A seemingly peaceful day at one of the most popular supermarkets in Budapest turned into something nobody expected. As it happened, in the store located on Corvin sétány, a customer was accused of theft by the security guard, reported Blikk. The victim of the assault, László K., shared his experiences with the source.

“I was about to leave the store when a man larger than I stopped me in my tracks. Provocatively, he ordered me to empty my pockets. He’s security, he said.”

László was looking for a product on sale, but once he noticed the item was sold out, he decided to leave Lidl empty-handed. After the security guard stopped him, László complied and emptied his pockets. In his possession was an item he bought from another store, receipt attached. László wanted to settle the situation peacefully, complying with store protocol, but the guard was getting angrier.

“He soon started cussing at me, then began to violently shake me. I asked him firmly to unhand me, only for him to throw me into the nearest checkout desk. On impact, my body shattered the plexiglass; the small pieces of glass cut my neck and tore up my clothes and belongings,” László explains.

The resolution

The police instantly deduced that László was innocent. They asked whether he wanted to make an official police report and take the guard to court, but after what he experienced, László declined. He asked for a sum of money for the damage to his personal belongings, which the guard paid in cash then and there.
